ADOPT

ADOPTING A KITTEN/CAT

After years of experience with adopting out cats and kittens, we would love to assist you in choosing the perfect feline family member(s).

  • Once we receive an application form, we will discuss with you any questions we or you may have and then we will send you the details of the home visit video.
  • We will send you the photos of available kittens then and we can discuss the choices.
  • Once you choose the kitties you wish to adopt, we will send you a confirmation email and request a deposit (part of the adoption fee) to be paid. Kindly do so soonest as the kittens will remain available until the confirmation deposit is paid. This is to discourage ghosting (adopters confirming kittens for adoption and then disappear and other potential adopters missing out on the opportunity to adopt those kittens) and to be fair to other potential adopters.
  • Upon receipt of deposit, the adoption is confirmed.
  • Kittens get sterilised at 9 weeks or a weight of 800g and after that you will receive the collection email with all details and arrangements.

You can follow our adoption map here.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Why do we not allow visits to our foster homes to meet kittens?

Please note that we unfortunately do not allow visits to our foster homes to meet the kittens. This is because we lost many kittens during previous virus outbreaks and infections and it is our priority to protect all the kittens in our care from exposure to anything that might affect their health and their lives in any way.

Kittens have underdeveloped immune systems and are super susceptible to infections and diseases. They can unfortunately die easily due to anyone unknowingly bringing in diseases and viruses to our kittens. It is our priority to protect them as they will be adopted by someone who will become their family. It would be devastating if you choose a kitten for adoption and he/she then dies due to a disease brought in unknowingly by someone.

Even though you cannot visit and meet the kittens for adoption, you can continue to enjoy the benefit of our years of experience of understanding our rescues’ personalities and behaviour in order to assist you to choose the right rescue kitty match for your home and family.

We do realise we risk losing our kittens getting adopted with this policy, but their well-being is our priority always.

Why are kittens on our Facebook page almost always already booked?

You might notice that most of the kittens posted on our social media pages are already booked for adoption. This is because we schedule posts beforehand to post automatically on our Facebook page while we all work during the day; therefore, the page posts are not co-ordinated with actual current time. It is not possible to update posts for availability due to the volume of rescues we have and every cat on our book gets 3 Facebook posts. We do regular updated posts for the sponsors of those kitties and for our audience to see how our rescues are doing, so you might often see a kitten on our page for the first time when they have been posted before already.

When will my kitten be able to come home?

Whilst we truly understand that adopters are generally in a hurry to get their kittens home, we appreciate that you understand we can only send them home once they are ready. When a kitten is healthy and the ideal sterilisation weight of 800g, then they will get sterilised and soon after that we send out the collection emails. Because our kittens’ readiness is not determined by age, but by weight, we cannot give an estimation of time as we are dependent on a kitten’s biology. Kittens also need to remain in care with their siblings and mother (where possible) to learn certain very important behaviours so they can be well adjusted cats in their new homes.

We hope we can assist you with adding a new Raisen or two to your family soon. If we are not able to do so and you do get kittens elsewhere, we truly hope they and you will be happy, and please remember to insist they get sterilised 😉 as part of your adoption.

If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to ask
